InsurTech

Policy, claims and distribution systems for insurers, brokers and MGAs. Insurance runs on a long chain: product filing, distribution through agents, banks and aggregators, underwriting, issuance, servicing and claims, each under IRDAI rules. Most insurers have a core policy system that is hard to change, so the value lies in the layers around it: faster quotes, cleaner claims intake and better tools for the people who sell and service policies.

The pressure points

What slows insurtech teams down

Claims drown in documents
A single health or motor claim brings bills, discharge summaries, FIRs, photos and survey reports. Staff read them line by line to decide what is payable.
Core systems are slow to change
Launching a new product or rider on the core policy system takes months, so distribution partners wait.
Distribution is fragmented
Agents, bancassurance, POSPs and aggregators each have their own process. Commission and persistency tracking is done in spreadsheets.
Fraud hides in volume
Inflated bills, staged accidents and repeat claimants are spotted by experienced eyes, but only when someone has time to look.

Built for this sector

Systems specific to insurtech

The work that generic software does not cover, and where most of the value sits.

Quote and buy flows
Rating engines and rules outside the core system, so product and pricing teams can change questions and loadings without a release.
Agent and POSP app
Quotes, proposal forms with e-KYC, payment links, renewal reminders and commission statements on the agent's phone.
Surveyor app
Motor surveyors capture photos with location and time stamps, estimate parts and labour and submit the report from site.
Underwriting workbench
Proposal, medical reports and declarations on one screen, with rules that route cases to the right underwriting authority.

Where AI helps

AI use cases with a clear return

  1. Claim document reading

Hospital bills, discharge summaries and invoices are read and turned into line items, matched to policy terms and flagged for the assessor.

Assessors spend their time on judgement

  2. Fraud signals for review

Patterns across claims, providers, garages and claimants are scored and the reasons shown, so the investigation team decides what to pursue.

Suspicious claims get looked at earlier, with reasons attached

  3. Motor damage estimation support

Photos of the damaged vehicle are assessed for affected parts to give the surveyor a starting estimate.

Shorter time from intimation to survey report

  4. Servicing agent

Handles common requests such as address change, nominee update and policy copy over WhatsApp, with authentication and audit trail.

Routine requests close without a call centre queue

  5. Underwriting summaries

Summarises medical reports and proposal disclosures into a one page view for the underwriter.

    Faster, more consistent underwriting decisions

Before you start

InsurTech: common questions

Do you replace our core policy system?

Rarely. Most insurers get more from building quote, claims, servicing and distribution layers around the core system and integrating through its APIs or database views.

Can AI approve or reject claims?

We do not set it up that way. AI reads documents and raises flags. A person with the right authority makes the decision, and the reasons are recorded.

Where will policyholder data be stored?

In India, in your cloud account or data centre, in line with IRDAI's requirements. We document data flows for DPDP and for your information security team before go-live.
