Agritech

Software for agribusinesses that buy from, lend to and advise thousands of farmers. Most agribusiness in India runs through a chain of farmers, FPOs, aggregators, mandis and processors, with cash, credit and quality decided at every hand-off. Software earns its place where it records what happened at the farm gate, keeps procurement and payments honest, and reaches farmers on the phone they already use, in their own language.

  • Farmer producer organisations (FPOs)
  • Agri input companies (seeds, fertiliser, crop protection)
  • Procurement and aggregation businesses
  • Food processors and exporters
  • Dairy and poultry cooperatives
  • Agri lending and crop insurance partners

The pressure points

What slows agritech teams down

Farm gate data is thin
Procurement is weighed, graded and paid at collection centres with a register and a calculator. Disputes over moisture, grade and deductions are settled by memory.
Farmers are hard to reach well
Many farmers use a basic Android phone, read Gujarati, Hindi or Marathi, and prefer voice. A polished English app goes unused after the first week.
Traceability is asked for, rarely kept
Exporters and organic buyers want lot level records back to the plot. Those records usually live in field officers' notebooks.
Seasonal, cash-heavy operations
Volumes spike for a few weeks at harvest. Systems, staff and working capital all have to scale up quickly and then wind down.

Built for this sector

Systems specific to agritech

The work that generic software does not cover, and where most of the value sits.

Collection centre app
Works offline, reads the weighing scale over Bluetooth, records moisture and grade, prints or WhatsApps a receipt and syncs when the network returns.
Plot and crop registry
Geo-tagged farm boundaries, crop calendars and input use by plot, which feeds traceability, advisory and crop loan checks.
Lot traceability
A lot code that follows produce from plot to collection centre, warehouse, processing batch and dispatch, with residue test reports attached.
Advisory and outreach
Crop stage advisories pushed on WhatsApp and IVR, with replies routed to an agronomist and logged against the farmer.

Where AI helps

AI use cases with a clear return

  1. Voice advisory in local languages

Farmers ask questions by voice in Gujarati or Hindi. An assistant answers from your agronomy content and hands harder cases to an agronomist.

Advice reaches more farmers without adding call centre seats

  2. Crop photo triage

A photo of a leaf or pest is matched against known problems and routed with a suggested diagnosis for an agronomist to confirm.

Faster first response during pest outbreaks

  3. Arrival and price forecasting

Forecasts of arrivals and mandi prices by commodity and district, using past arrivals, sowing data and weather.

Better timing for procurement and stock release

  4. Reading handwritten records

Field registers and collection slips are photographed and turned into structured entries for review.

Paper records become searchable without a data entry drive

  5. Quality grading support

Images of grain or produce samples are scored for visible defects to support the grader's call.

Fewer grading disputes at the collection centre

Before you start

Agritech: common questions

Will the field app work where there is no network?

Yes. Collection centre and field apps store entries on the phone and sync when a connection returns. We test on the low cost Android phones your staff actually carry.

Can farmers use it without installing an app?

Usually the farmer side runs on WhatsApp and IVR, with receipts, advisories and payment alerts there. Only staff and field officers need an app.

We already run Tally. Do we need an ERP?

Often not at first. We build procurement, stock and farmer records, and post vouchers into Tally so your accountant keeps working as before.
