MES manufacturing execution system
ERP plans what to make. MES records what actually happened on each machine, shift and batch. We build MES that operators can use with gloves on, that pulls machine signals where they exist, and that gives your quality team genealogy from raw material lot to finished pallet.

Modules
Modules we build into your MES
Start with the modules that matter most and add the rest in later releases.
- Work order execution
- Production orders from ERP released to lines, with operation steps, routing and operator sign off at each stage.
- Machine data and OEE
- Run, idle and stop signals from PLCs, IoT gateways or manual entry, with downtime reasons and OEE by line and shift.
- Quality checks
- In-process inspection plans, sampling, SPC charts, non-conformance records and hold or release decisions.
- Traceability and genealogy
- Lot and serial tracking from inward material to dispatch, so a complaint can be traced to a batch, machine and operator.
- Material and WIP
- Material issue against orders, WIP stock between stages, scrap and rework booked where it happens.
- Shift and labour
- Shift handover notes, operator skills matrix and output per operator, without turning it into surveillance.
- Shop floor screens
- Andon boards and line displays showing target versus actual, so supervisors see problems within the hour.
AI built in
Where AI saves time in this system
Downtime reason clustering
Groups free text stop reasons into usable categories and shows which ones cost the most hours.
Early quality warnings
Watches process parameters and inspection results, and flags drift before a batch goes out of specification.
Shift summary
Writes a plain shift report from the data: output, losses, open issues and what the next shift should watch.
SOP assistant
Answers operator questions from your approved SOPs and work instructions, with a link to the source page.

Build, buy or both
Large plants on SAP often do well with SAP's own manufacturing modules or a packaged MES, provided the processes fit. For many Indian MSME and mid-size plants those products are too heavy or too costly, and Odoo's manufacturing app covers simple discrete work. Custom or hybrid pays off when your process is unusual (batch and continuous mixed, regulated pharma records, auto component traceability for OEM audits) or when the machines are a mix of old and new. We usually start with one line, prove the data is right, then roll out.
Connects with
- SAP, Oracle or Odoo ERP
- PLCs via OPC UA or Modbus
- IoT gateways and SCADA
- Weighing scales and barcode printers
- LIMS or QC lab systems
- Tally for smaller plants
- Power BI or Metabase

Questions
MES: common questions
Our machines are old. Can we still have MES?
Yes. Older machines can use simple sensors or operator entry on a tablet. We mix automatic and manual capture and show which is which.
Does it replace our ERP?
No. ERP keeps planning, inventory value and accounts. MES handles execution and sends confirmations, consumption and output back.
Can it meet pharma record requirements?
We design for 21 CFR Part 11 and EU GMP Annex 11 expectations such as audit trails and e-signatures. Validation is done with your QA team.
