Retail and D2C
One stock figure across stores, website and marketplaces, and customers who come back. Retail runs on thin margins and fast stock turns. A brand selling through its own site, Amazon, Flipkart, quick commerce and a few stores needs every channel to draw from the same inventory and every order to reach the warehouse, the courier and Tally without someone retyping it.
- D2C brands on Shopify and ShopenUp
- Multi store chains and franchises
- Quick commerce and dark stores
- Marketplace sellers
- Grocery and kirana networks
- Specialty and lifestyle retail

The pressure points
What slows retail and d2c teams down
- Stock that does not match
- The website says in stock, the warehouse says otherwise. Marketplace syncs run every few hours, so sale day oversells turn into cancellations and penalties.
- Rising cost per order
- Paid ads get costlier each quarter while first party data on repeat buyers sits unused in the order history.
- Returns and RTO eating margin
- Cash on delivery orders return to origin, size issues drive returns, and nobody tracks which SKU, pin code or channel causes the losses.
- Store and online run separately
- Store POS, loyalty points and online accounts do not talk, so a customer who buys in both places looks like two strangers.

Retail and D2C: common questions
Should we stay on Shopify or build our own store?
Most brands should stay on Shopify or ShopenUp for the storefront and build custom only where it differs: order routing, loyalty, B2B pricing or store integration. A full custom store makes sense at high volume or with unusual catalogue rules.
Can the POS work when the internet drops?
Yes. Billing continues offline with local storage and syncs stock and sales once the connection returns, with conflict rules agreed up front.
How do you handle marketplace stock sync?
Through the official seller APIs with a central stock ledger and safety buffers per channel, so a sale on one channel reduces stock everywhere within minutes.
