Project management project and work management
Project software tracks who is doing what by when, how many hours went in and what the project has cost against its budget. For service firms, agencies and contractors the useful version links timesheets and milestones to invoicing, so margin is visible while the project is still running.

Modules
Modules we build into your Project management
Start with the modules that matter most and add the rest in later releases.
- Projects and milestones
- Projects broken into phases and milestones, with owners, dates and dependencies shown on a Gantt or board view.
- Tasks and boards
- Kanban boards, checklists, comments and file attachments, with tasks assignable to staff or client users.
- Timesheets
- Daily or weekly timesheets against tasks, approval by the project lead, and billable versus non-billable hours.
- Resource planning
- Who is free next month, who is overbooked, and which skills are short across the project list.
- Budgets and costs
- Budget by phase, actual cost from timesheets and expenses, and a forecast of the final margin.
- Billing
- Invoices raised on milestones, retainers or hours worked, with GST and a push to your accounts system.
- Client portal
- Clients see progress, approve deliverables and raise change requests without a stream of emails.

Build, buy or both
Jira, Asana, ClickUp, Zoho Projects and Monday.com are good and cheap, and for internal task tracking you should use one. Custom work makes sense when projects carry money, materials or compliance with them: contractors tracking BOQ and running bills, agencies billing by retainer and hours, or consulting firms that need utilisation and margin by client. In those cases we usually build the costing and billing layer and either keep a standard tool for tasks or include a simple board.

Questions
Project management: common questions
Why not use Jira or Asana?
For task tracking, you should. We build project systems when you need costing, billing or site records that those tools do not hold, and we can connect to the tools you keep.
Can clients log in?
Yes. Clients get a limited view of their own projects to see progress, approve work and raise change requests.
Does it work for construction projects?
Yes, with BOQ items, measurement books and running account bills in place of software-style tasks.
